Video monitoring · Radio systems
The task.
Monitor the clearance site. Keep the bulldozer in view from a safe distance.
The background
Creating firebreaks on land contaminated with unexploded ordnance posed a risk of detonating large-calibre munitions. The bulldozer was therefore operated from a support vehicle. Access routes to a clearance area of around 25 square kilometres also needed to be monitored.

My contribution.
Organise the entire video monitoring system. Set up and install the radio equipment.
The cameras in use
The bulldozer’s cameras gave operators in the support vehicle an all-round view of the working area. An additional camera inside the bulldozer monitored the driving console and controls, providing the views required for operation from a distance.
Radio systems
working together.
Directional radio links and separate frequency bands for mobile cameras and access-route monitoring.
The transmission system
The link between the bulldozer and the support vehicle used a different frequency band from the cameras at the corners of the site. Radio equipment was set up and installed for the required transmission directions. Directional radio links brought the camera feeds together at the central monitoring station in the container.

Central
monitoring.
Bring camera feeds together. Maintain an overview of operations and coordinate the response in an emergency.
An overview on site
At the central monitoring station, the responsible team could keep the access routes, the bulldozer and the support vehicle in view. The video links helped maintain an overview of operations and coordinate the necessary measures in an emergency.
